Matthew Barley/Cellist

Music is the language that permits me to converse with the beyond.

Robert Schumann

“Education was an enduring passion for Britten, as was making music in his community, not necessarily with professional musicians. In this spirit, education and community work has been very important to me in setting up the tour, and also because sharing music is a joy, and music is for everyone.”  Matthew Barley

Workshops will be divided into two broad categories.

  1. Events that will help prospective audience members get more from their concert going experience (schools, adult learning groups, conservatoires, universities, music schools etc), and will include creative music sessions exploring the Britten and other repertoire from the programme, as well as looking at the technology Matthew uses for the audio and visual sides of the concert.
  2. Events for people who would otherwise not be able to hear live music – in homes for the elderly, for children in special schools and hospices, and in prisons.

If you would like to get in touch about organising an event, please contact me.
